Inspired by the elegance of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the historic Bordeaux Tower in Fayetteville, North Carolina has become one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and a lasting symbol of community pride. Installed in 1971, the approximately 100-foot-tall Eiffel Tower replica was erected seven years after the Bordeaux Shopping Center was established. Standing at one-tenth the height of the original Eiffel Tower, the structure was envisioned by developer John Sandrock, who wanted to create something iconic that would distinguish the area. According to Sandrock, the inspiration came after a local resident suggested, “Well if you're going to call this area Bordeaux, why not make it something French?” For the first time since the 1980s, the tower was completely illuminated once again during Independence Day celebrations, rekindling local memories and drawing widespread attention throughout the region. Our team provided the RGBW lighting design, along with remote programming and commissioning, transforming the tower into a dynamic nighttime centerpiece while ensuring easy installation and long-term maintenance. During regular operation, the tower is illuminated in a clean architectural white light, while holidays and special events bring vibrant color displays that celebrate the spirit of the community — especially during Fourth of July festivities that have brought renewed excitement, joy, and pride to the people of Fayetteville.
