Projects / Decorative Poles at Boston University

Decorative Poles at Boston University

At Boston University’s Metcalf Science Center, a custom lighting installation was developed to complement Sergio Castillo’s metal sculpture Explosion. Six Luna 30W floodlights are spiraled around a single pole, forming a sculptural composition of precisely directed light.

Each luminaire operates as a point of control—collectively shaping both the illumination of the plaza and the articulation of the sculpture. By day, the structure reads as an architectural element within the campus environment. By night, it delivers focused, high-performance lighting that activates the space for events and gathering.

The result is a refined expression of precision lighting—where individual points of light define form, enhance experience, and transform the space into a dynamic focal point.
