Projects / Wing Portal Sculpture at Burning Man
Wing Portal Sculpture at Burning Man
Created as a gift to California, this large-scale sculpture transforms materials from the 2018 wildfires into a symbol of resilience and transcendence. Conceived as a work of light and structure, the piece is first presented at Burning Man before its permanent installation in California. Spanning 80 feet, the wing-like form is constructed from recycled metal, iridescent panels, and thousands of distributed LED light points. Integrated across the surface, the media layer transforms the sculpture into a dynamic luminous object—shifting in color and intensity to amplify its presence. By day, the piece reads as a sculptural form shaped by material and reflection. By night, it becomes media—light embedded within structure—expressing transformation at scale.
